A month seems like a long time to devote to anything in our fast paced culture. But I can assure you that if you take the time to slow down and focus on what you can learn about yourself, or what wisdom is waiting for you to claim it,  you will find the value of taking this time to yourself and may even wish for more.

Here is what I do and what I suggest you do for a full lunation sitting.

Prepare a space.

At the new moon, prepare a space for your altar, sage it, and then dedicate it to the Goddess of the Month.

Learn and Create

Get to know your selected Goddess and set up your altar. Even if you think you already know a lot about her, I’m sure you can discover something new. Read about her story. Learn about her culture and why she is important. Find out what her best qualities are or the qualities she represents. Also find out about her shadows. It can be interesting to learn about foods associated with her and try consuming some of those during the month. Find out what flowers, plants, symbols, colors and other objects might represent her and then add those to your altar. I love this process of getting to know a new Goddess each month.

Spend time with your goddess.

It only takes a few minutes a day to sit (or stand) in front of your altar and focus your attention on her and what you can learn from her. Keep your heart and mind open to receiving wisdom from this Goddess. Try taking a few minutes at the beginning of the day and at the end of the day.

Each day, I spend time with her either in meditation or with acknowledging where I am using the qualities represented by her. I have learned about my qualities of compassion from Kwan Yin, my passion from Pele, my anger from Kali, my devotion to beauty from Aphrodite as well as many other qualities from the many Goddesses I’ve connected with over the years.

Do a simple Full Moon Ritual.

Around the full moon, when the energy of the lunar cycle is at it’s peak, do some kind of ritual to help you anchor in what you would like to gain from the past 2 weeks of experiential learning with the Goddess. It is also a time to also release what is no longer serving you.

Integrate.

As the moon wanes, it may seem like it’s time to move on, but give yourself time to integrate what you have learned. Continue to spend time with the Goddess each day, but with an intention of integration. I make time for deep self care and reflection during this time.

Release and Clear

At the time of the dark moon, begin clearing off your altar and preparing it for a new Goddess.

I look forward to hearing about your experiences.
